The spot

Talacre sits at Point of Ayr, where the Dee estuary meets the Irish Sea. At low water it offers an enormous expanse of flat sand, and it is one of the most accessible beaches on this coast from Chester and Merseyside.

The point itself is an RSPB reserve and part of the Dee Estuary Special Protection Area, with internationally important roosting bird populations and restricted access in parts — check the signage and stay out. Streams round the point are strong where the estuary meets the sea.
