The spot

Tenby South Beach runs a mile and a half from the town towards Giltar Point, facing south-east with Caldey Island offshore. That aspect makes it valuable: it works when the exposed west-facing Pembrokeshire beaches are blown out.

Streams run through Caldey Sound between the beach and the island and should not be drifted into. In summer this is one of the busiest resort beaches in Wales; out of season it is a very good spot.
