Need to know

The things that catch people out here.

  • You pay to launch here. In exchange you get water safety cover and flatter water than Kite Beach — a fair trade on a big day.
  • Membership of the club plus proof of £5m BKSA third-party insurance is required before you are issued a vest.
  • Solo launching from the concrete block is explicitly forbidden. Launch and land only in the specified kite zone.
  • The Langstone Harbour entrance is right there and the stream through it is fierce.

The spot

CBK sits at the western end of Beachlands near Sinah Common and operates as a managed club beach. Unlike Kite Beach a mile east, you pay to launch here; in return the club provides water safety cover and the launch area sits in flatter water.

The rules are enforced. Members need club membership plus proof of £5 million third-party public liability insurance through BKSA before being issued a vest, must launch and land only in the specified kite zone, and are explicitly prohibited from solo launching off the concrete block.

The Langstone Harbour entrance is immediately to the west and the tidal stream running through it is one of the strongest on this coast.
