The spot
Ardrossan South Beach is one of the most accessible spots in Scotland — the railway station is directly behind it and parking is free. The view across to Arran is the best part.
The harbour immediately north is the main Arran ferry terminal with frequent sailings, so stay well south of the approach. Rock and old harbour structures sit at the northern end. Troon, twenty minutes south, is the better beach for anyone with a car.
