The spot

Cefn Sidan at Pembrey is one of the longest continuous beaches in Britain: eight miles of flat sand backed by forest and dunes, reached through Pembrey Country Park. There is more room here than almost anywhere, and the water is shallow and forgiving on the right tide.

Two things shape a session. The MOD firing range at the western end is active and its flags are to be obeyed absolutely. And the forest behind the beach shadows the wind in northerly directions — on those days you either ride well out or pick somewhere else.
