Need to know
The things that catch people out here.
- Titchfield Haven nature reserve is right behind the beach. Keep kites over the water and out of the reserve airspace — the relationship with the reserve is what keeps access open.
- The sailing club uses this beach actively. Give the slipway and the racing area room.
- Quieter than Stokes Bay and with more sand at lower tides.

The spot
Hill Head sits west of Lee-on-the-Solent, beside Hill Head Sailing Club and the Titchfield Haven National Nature Reserve. It is quieter than Stokes Bay and gets more sand at lower tides.
The reserve behind the beach is the sensitivity. Kites flown over it disturb protected birds and the local relationship depends on riders keeping their kites over the water. The sailing club also uses the beach actively, so give the slipway and racing area a wide berth.

- Stokes Bay
Easy access, big rigging area, and a straight shot across the Solent to the Isle of Wight.
