The spot
Bembridge sits on the eastern corner of the Isle of Wight, facing the open Channel rather than the Solent. It is far quieter than the north shore and picks up real swell and a wider range of wind directions.
Bembridge Ledge is the thing to know about: a large rock platform that dries out at low water, sharp and extensive. Add a tidal race running off the Foreland and it becomes a spot for riders who have done their homework. There is no lifeguard cover and few people about.
